Teej Festival in Jaipur

A Vibrant Celebration
The festival is all about worshiping the goddess Parvathi for long life of their partners and this generally falls during the monsoon season between the months of July and August. According to Hindu calendar the month Shrawan hosts this beautiful festival and this festival in Jaipur is a spectacular one. The procession along with the idol of Maa Parvathi as goddess Teej will be a special attraction and the finely decorated elephants, horses, bullock carts will grab the attention of the visitors.  Both men and women take part in the procession playing musical instruments and dancing to the traditional beats wearing vivid attires. 

The festival is filled merriment as married women will be gifted with new and attractive sarees, bangles, sindhur and mehendi from their maternal house. Wearing these fabulous apparels and accessories people take part in the puja and other celebrations. Along with all these people exchange sweet disk Ghevar. This procession of Teej starts in the old city and will fascinate people for two consecutive days. The fair includes the stalls of mouthwatering delicacies, handicrafts, colorful apparels and many more.
